Organ Transplant Response System

the TRS™ Applications:

DRS™ Donor Referral System™

Real Costs: The Donor Referral System™ from LDT Systems is challenging the cost assumptions surrounding referral systems. LDT has carefully studied the economics of administrative technology in support of transplantation and found that the prevalent cost/benefit assumptions are out of step with other technology markets. DRS is built on the proven, cost-effective TRS platform.

Real Conversion: DRS algorithms assess key donor thresholds to track the death record referral status for organ, tissue or immediate rule-out. DRS includes tools for death record review, tracking of referrals and conversion rates, with alerts for situations that require management attention.

Real Integration: Built on the LDT Systems’ TRS integrated technology platform, DRS initiates the necessary donor forms, whether for organ, tissue or both. Final donor outcome data is integrated with OPO and tissue processor enterprise reporting and billing systems.

OTRS® Organ Transplant Response System®
Version 4.0 Released

OTRS Version 4.0 went live June 1, 2005. The key words for Version 4.0 are flexibility and accountability.

Real Flexibility: Version 4.0 has introduced real-time simultaneous record access for data input and updating. Data can now be entered concurrently by

  • Procurement Transplant Coordinators
  • Placement Staff, and
  • third party labs.

Real Accountability: Version 4.0 represents an important advancement in information technology for quality control and tracking of life-critical data. OTRS 4.0 is built on a technology platform that supports robust change tracking, reporting and data validation.

Real Results: The Patent Pending OTRS operates as a cost effective solution to the financially focused OPO. The system is successful in support of both the mission and the business of organ procurement.

TIPS™ Tissue Information Processing System™

Tissue Donor Chart Approval: In Days, Not Weeks

Real Simplicity: TIPS is an add-on to the current standardized OTRS donor form. TIPS places the tissue procurement approval and QA process online. The system eliminates the costly downtime of physical transshipment of donor approval forms.

Real Costs: Both procurement and processing agencies absorb the cost of delays in tissue donor approvals. From freezer space to unprocessed tissue segment inventory, delayed chart approval adds to cost of operation.

Form Standardization: The TIPS concept is based on user-defined form standardization, using the same, efficient approval process as the standardized OTRS organ donor form.

TRS-MD™ Transplant Response System–Mobile Device

True Mobility: TRS-MD frees tissue medical directors and on-call surgeons and transplant coordinators from hard-wired Internet connections. The standardized OTRS and TIPS donor charts can be accessed on virtually any wireless web-enabled PDA or smartphone–anytime, anywhere.

Real World: The first-ever organ acceptance via wireless device resulting in a transplant took place in September of 2003. Dr. Steven D. Colquhoun, Liver Transplant Program Director at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, reviewed and accepted a liver offer while at the mall with his family.

Fast, Simple & Inexpensive: Several Los Angeles transplant centers recently equipped their surgeons and transplant coordinators with palmOne™ Treo™ 650 smartphones to access TRS-MD. It’s as easy as adding a cell phone.

palmOne and Treo are among the trademarks or registered trademarks owned by or exclusively licensed to palmOne, Inc.
